Bush Pardons Scooter as Bush Admits Republican Party in Free Fall:

Recognizing that his political party is in complete disarray, President Bush went ahead and pardoned convicted felon, Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney's hatchet man, who had been convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice in the C.I.A. leak case.

The announcement made yesterday was met with derision by Democrats and disgust my moderate Republicans, who see their party being eviscerated by the arrogance of the current administration and its complete disregard for law.

According to a Washington Post story, Bush did not consult with the Justice Department or a large group of analysts in making his decision to commute Libby's prison term. Following his practices for making most of the decisions while in the White House, Bush only consulted a very small number of his closest advisors.
